Walking with Purpose...


Have you noticed any advertisements for weight loss programs? No...ok..maybe its just me. I mean...even Taco Bell is claiming to have a healthy alternative. I have had plenty of Taco Bell in my day...and I never thought it was a healthy option. Clearly...as is every start to the year...healthy living takes the front stage. The national health care debate probably helps this year as well. There is no cure all...its pretty simple really. Eat healthy, live an active lifestyle, you are probably going to be ok. So...what does this have to do with promotions? Well...pedometers are an easy way to monitor how active your lifestyle is. Its a very simple item. Attached it to your belt loop....walk around your office...watch the calories burn off. To take it a step further...with the powers of technology...you can actually sync up the steps you take during the day with your Wii. If you have the Wii Fit Plus game..it has a setting to input the steps you have during the day to help with your fitness goals. There are numerous studies that show people walk as much as 20% more when wearing a pedometer. So...what can start off as a fun inner office campaign can lead to great personal results as well. That sounds like a win win for me.

Tunnel Vision

Good afternoon! Today I wanted to touch on something that I think we can all get trapped in....tunnel vision. What's wrong with being so focused on the tasks at hand? Well...like the old saying goes...sometimes it hard to see the forest through the trees. With shrinking work forces and additional job responsibilities...one can easily get so caught up in the day to day...that they get lost in it. It is good to stop, take a moment, and access where we are going. For example, in my industry I can get so caught up in getting what people want now...I don't take the time to prepare for what they want 6 months from now. Stopping to research what the new trends are, new ways of marketing and advertising, interacting with others in the industry. So I wanted to take this time to remind you....stop and see what other competitors are doing...see what is trending in your industry right now...be prepared...because if your not...you will already be a step behind...

New Year off Right?


So...with a new year...comes resolutions. We all either have them or know people that do. How many of them work???? It seems like a very small percentage....I actually heard the other day that 77% of them fail in the first week. Ouch...so how do we stay motivated. Better yet...how do you keep your employees motivated on the new goals and tasks you have laid out. Daily reminders always help. I know one of my resolutions is do make this a more active and pro-active blog. So we are starting today, day 1 of the new work year, with a great little desktop item. It is simply called the Motivation Box. It comes with 5 motivational words pre-printed on cube (excellence, innovation, integrity, leadership, teamwork) The sixth side would be for your custom decoration. Ready for Fall?

I know, its a crazy thing to say considering how much rain we just received here in Northern Indiana, but fall is right around the corner. The dog days of August will soon be behind us. High School and College football games will be starting up soon and what better item to have with you than a heavyweight sweatshirt to keep you warm in the evening as the weather cools. Creative Marketing

In these tough economic times, companies have to get more creative to get people's attention and reach a larger market audience. With marketing budgets shrinking, doing the standard marketing strategies may not be feasible. There are many different creative ways to get your message out there. With new social networks like Twitter and Facebook growing popularity, these can be new means to reach your audience with relatively no cost involved. YouTube is another avenue where you can post videos about products or services to get your message out there. There is currently an ad campaign from Evian water that is sweeping the viral video world. In case you haven't seen it, here it is for you.



Now granted, there was some cost coming up with a way to have babies dancing around, but it has become an Internet sensation! With over 4 million hits online, its reaching a large audience. Evian chose to launch this video online first, and it seems to be working. It just goes to show that as a company you have to be willing to adapt to different media formats to get your message across...oh...and dancing babies always works!

Prepared for a storm?



Summer officially started over the weekend! I know I'm excited about thunder that shakes picture frames off walls and knocks my power out during a White Sox game (or Cubs if you prefer). Losing power can be a frustrating thing. You have to remember where you kept the flashlight or matches. It's an odd feeling not being able to check your email, facebook, twitter....etc. There are many promotional items out there than can help out with this problem.
